| I won't bust your balls for not having a spare $100 in this economy, or for taking a road trip when you don't have a spare $100 for emergencies. Here are some options: 1) Slow down. My understanding is the lower hose collapses during extended high RPM use. Like on a real race track, or that fancy autobahn place. 2) I'd imagine you could take the stock hose and cut the bends out, and use those bends with straight aluminum pipe. You'd end up with 2 straights and some elbows. You'd still need a way to put a bead on the pipe ends, JB weld could work, but I'd rather have it rolled right. You'd have to cut your good lower hose. You'd introduce more potential leak points. I'd still carry a stock spare, and a wrench for the hose clamps. I had a lower hard pipe kit and decided NOT to install it before ZCON '06. I didn't think it was worth the risk to install it the day before I left.
